Beach vibes

It was my first time in Miami and during Art Basel I could appreciate it even more with its poolside fashion shows, celebrity sweat, cocktail parties, and the after parties, yeah that’s what it’s famous for… Art Basel was the best reason to go to Miami, to take some photos by the beach and to check out some great contemporary art, which you all know I love so much. I had the pleasure to discover some of the best spots in town. The Webster is one of them: it’s a multi-brand 3-story boutique with high-end designer wear, built in a sunlit art deco venue with a rooftop deck. The Mary Katrantzou x Adidas capsule just came in when I was there and it was just perfect; I’ve already spotted my favorite dress and T-shirt, take a look here.

The Webster x Eres - Miami

I really enjoyed a lovely lunch on the rooftop of The Webster, celebrating Laure Heriard Dubreuil – Co-Founder and CEO of The Webster – and her collection for Eres, the Chanel-owned swimwear and lingerie brand was one of the first she signed when The Webster opened in 2009. The store is such an iconic chic spot in Miami, the equivalent of Colette in Paris or Decades in Los Angeles; and the bites and organic juices they served were delicious, just like the view …

Art Basel - Miami

The selection at UNTITLED. was very well curated and definitely way broader than what I expected. UNTITLED. is an art fair for international galleries and nonprofit art spaces with a focus on emerging and midcareer contemporary art and it reminded me a lot of ‘Paris Photo’ in terms of artists and taste. Among all the artists, I found my very favorite one, Jen Stark, whose painting was photographed on my feature on The Coveteur, remember? Jen Stark is a Miami-born contemporary artist whose majority of work involves creating paper sculptures. Her patterns and shapes are based on replication and infinity, reproducing designs found in nature. Since expanding her medium from paper to include wood and even mirrors, her signature creations combine a variety of materials that have acted as a catalyst for more established spiritual proclivity as expressed through hypnotic mandala-like configurations.

Windwood - Miami

windwood - Art Basel

Windwood has been another great discovery of this weekend in Miami: Windwood has two major sub-districts, the Wynwood Art District in northern Wynwood, and the Wynwood Fashion District along West 5th Avenue. They both contain plenty of galleries, museums, art collections and some amazing Art Walls like the one from the photo by Iro Retna. The feeling I had when I went there was of being in Abbot Kinney just with a much warmer weather. Any suggestions on great spots and venues I should check out next time I’m there? Write on the comments below!
