One thing that I’ve always envied menswear for is the quiet assertiveness of the tailored suit, the allure of the tuxedo that is the backbone of the term “gentleman”. What could work the same magic into a woman’s closet? The buildings in NYC inspired me to play with the hard and soft lines of this oversized suit by Isabel Marant. I love how the cropped top and the blazer compete and match to paint the image of a woman who can be classy, modern and independent – my “gentlewoman”. The pops of color are exactly what she needs to express her style, no more, no less: the neon orange of the Jerome C. Rousseau pumps, the iridescent statement of the YSL handbag, and the closing argument of the Retro Super Future pink shades. That’s what happened when I’m in NY for a few days, I feel like I need to man up and wear a suit, bless you NY for bringing out my “gentlewoman”.
