Did you know that the new ACNE studios Men AW 2013 collection is inspired by an exhibition of August Strindberg’s self-portraits? I LOVE it. The collection has a very historical mood but with the Strindbergian vibe around. I love the modern version of the military pea coat and parka, intermixed with references to garments from the turn of 19th century. I’m very into the whimsical pattern of the bomber jacket and I would actually get it for myself. I also like the modern twist of the masculine materials bonded to neoprene. Although the pale grays and nudes, the fur hats and the high waisted trousers give the whole collection a very feminine look and the emphasis is all on the structure, the textures and the quality. The boy who will wear the collection should be eccentric, controversial, multifaceted, a real dandy like Strindberg was, with the confidence of a man and the elegance of a woman. Enigmatic, that’s the word.
